Lago is the open-source platform that helps engineers build better monetization systems. We enable software teams to build customizable and scalable usage metering, subscription management, billing, invoicing, and payment systems.
Lago is the leader of our category on Github (5k+ stars), won « Product of the month » on ProductHunt, and is used by leading companies such as Mistral, Together, Swan, Juni, Fintecture, JuliaHub, Regate, Flipside Crypto, Unifonic, Vida.id , Bureau.id, Sortium.
Lago's founding team previously built and scaled the home-grown monetization system of fintech unicorn Qonto from pre-launch to series D.
We're a lean, ambitious team of 12 today and will be a team of 20 in the upcoming months, and we're all about Product, FinTech and Open Source.
Our Product is really tech-driven, as we process and structure a lot of data, and build for developers so we have numerous exciting challenges for our first Data Scientist!
What you'll do
- Leverage Lago's data to build new product features that bring value to our customers
- Work with batch and real-time product usage data to build and improve models for Lago's business.
- Develop, productionize, and operate data models and pipelines at scale.
- Drive end-2-end algorithm development of productionized models i.e. specifications, training data generation, testing , parameter and feature tuning.
- Identify and articulate areas where data science can help grow Lago via business operations and product improvements.
- Work with our Product Engineering team to understand customer needs and challenges
The ideal candidate will have
- 5+ years experience in machine learning with an advanced degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Programming experience in Python / Scala / Java or equivalent.
- A focus on building vs. researching
- Working knowledge of machine learning best practices (e.g. A/B test, feature engineering, feature/model selection), algorithms (e.g. gradient boosted trees, deep learning / neural networks , optimization and NLP) and domains (e.g. natural language processing, anomaly detection, personalization and recommendation).
- Experience in technologies such as TensorFlow or SageMaker.
- Experience building and productionizing ML models.
- Fluent in English: verbal and written.
- A genuine passion for Open-Source: if you've contributed to OSS projects or used OSS tools, let us know!
- Bonus: you've worked on billing or tax projects: whether it was to implement a billing system, or maintain it, or integrate it with business tools (e.g., a CRM, Finance tools)
- A real appetite for the early stages of co-creating a product and shaping Lago's future

Our Values
Ambition: we aim big, because otherwise, where is the fun?Progress: we care more about the grit, the steep learning curve, the resilience and creativity muscles, than the current status or where you come from.Humble confidence: we know our strengths and always strive for excellence, but we also know there's so much we don't know yetPay it forward: we've all started somewhere, people gave us a hand when we needed one, we don't forget this, and reinforce this positive cycleNot taking ourselves too seriously: we are ambitious, restless learners and hustlers, but at the end of the day, our health (physical and mental), and our loved ones are what matter the most.
