What’s the role?

We are looking for a QA Engineer I to join our QA team to enable app engineering teams to deliver high quality experiences for Etsy Buyers and Sellers.

As the QA Engineer I you will be responsible for executing test plans with manual and automated testing. Collaborate with other motivated QAs, product partners, designers and engineers across multiple fields to support our family of apps. Our team requires someone who will thrive developing novel solutions to unbounded problems that can improve the lives of both Etsy users and engineers alike.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager. For this role, we are considering candidates based in Mexico who are either remote, flex, or office-based. What’s this team like at Etsy?

• A growing small team with a very wide impact across the Apps.

• Works with more than 18 other squads contributing code to our family of mobile apps.

• Working to automate regression tests and develop QA guidelines to gain confidence on our releases and reduce the release time from days to hours.

What does the day-to-day look like?

• Interact with teams at the beginning of the software development lifecycle to ensure a quality strategy is in place for all new features.
• Follow your team’s best practices related to testing techniques to ensure new features are released as defect free as possible. 
• Participate in team based testing sessions to assess product readiness of new features.
• Participate in daily team ceremonies including standups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, retros and more. 
• Able to identify issues and work with others to determine the priority and severity.
• Contribute to maintain a robust suite of regression tests.
• Learn to write automated tests for mobile applications.

You will do well if you:

• Experience with both writing and executing test cases.
• Able to investigate, triage, document, and communicate issues in a clear and concise manner. 
• Ask questions to support your own continuous learning.
• Learn from your own research and from those around you..
• Are beginning to understand the complexities of a mobile ecosystem including the nuances of both the iOS & Android operating systems.
• Have a notion about mobile tooling such as ADB, Emulators, Charles Proxy, Postman, and more from the QA perspective.
• Able to work with cross-functional teams.
